These wee beasties showed up in Razor, and thought it was time they got some stats for the Battlestar Galactica RPG. I looked over the orthos from Eric Chu and it seems all the heavy ordinance is on the weapons/launch pod amidships. There are eight launch pod-looking greebles on either side of the flight line, aft and fore, and dual barreled railguns on the top of the pod, as well as two forward-facing cannons. There are four turret-like greebles on the head of the gunstar, as well, but they look most likely to be missiles turrets, rather than railguns. I didn’t include them in the current specs. The big barrel-looking thing on the underside I assumed was a retrofire reaction system. Feel free to fanboy it into a massive supergun, or something…
The Berzerk-class gunstars act as protection for main-line battlestars. These are relatively modern assault craft and require a fairly small crew. Their computer systems are fully up to date, complete with the Command Navigation Program (unlike the older Vanguard class), and Mk VII vipers.

I’ve been thinking of creating stats for this ship for an upcoming campaign. Many of our thoughts were in line.
Can you point out these head turrets you mention? I can’t pick them out. Also, I saw the greebles right above the Viper launch tubes as lighter capital-scale weapons; It’d be one heck of a broadside. What are your thoughts there?
Finally, what is your line of reasoning for the point-defense system being less damaging that a Battlestar’s? Is it volume of fire?
Please forgive my ignorance- this is the first I’ve seen any material for this game out of the corebook.

No ignorance at all, sir — pretty much making the crap up myself. For the gunstar I saw them as escorts — destroyers protecting the aircraft carrier, if you will — and they’re smaller vessels, so less room for PDS turrets (they seem to be primarily mounted underneath the broadsides guns, that look smaller than the batteries on the main battelstars) and ammo for the same. That was why i figured they were a bit less heavy hitting on damage.
There appear to be forward-facing guns (2 of them) on the nose that look like they’re a bit heavier than the stuff mounted broadside. I would figure these would do a lot of the heavy lifting for piracy and criminal interdiction.
But, as always, adapt to fit your campaign.

I see the bow weapons you refer to. They do appear to be fixed missile tubes, much like those on a Basestar, with warhead cones protruding.
You mention “four turret-like greebles on the head of the gunstar, as well, but they look most likely to be missiles turrets.” Can you be more specific on those, or were they the same thing? I make out what may be paired horizontal launch tubes between the fore and aft armor plates on the dorsal bow.
Finally, my I ask your rationale on the large Raptor compliment?

I figured, as escorts that might be detached to solitary duty they would need raptors and shuttles for marine surface or aerospatial operations, but I’m sure those numbers cold be adjusted for the mission.
Yeah, I was just guessing on the head greebles — they could be missile pods, as you suggest. Feel free to modify the specs. I’m all about the freedom! chuckle

The first time I saw this ship I wasn’t too interested in it…but it has grown on me and I’m starting to really like it. It isn’t a battlestar wannabe, though I’d probably cut down or eliminate the Vipers entirely, IMO.

Hello! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any trouble with
hackers? My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I
ended up losing several weeks of hard work due to no data backup.
Do you have any methods to prevent hackers?

You can download WordPress’ software and backup your site to your computer — or at least that is my understanding.

Hi I’m designing a BSG style ship in blender to deploy in the opensim grid of kitely.com. It comes in at 520 meters length, with flight pods, and significant gun turrets. I’d like some advice on categorizing this. It is small like the Battlestar Valkyrie but also like the Gunstar Pulsar class.

I would call it a light battlestar if it’s got more than a squadron of Vipers, a gunstar if it’s running light on auxiliary vessels.
